Weddings

Sofia and Jérémie’s relationship has been very-well documented here at ITA. At Zach and Esme’s wedding last summer, we got a photo of the two of them marking their “dating” stage. Six months later, we captured Jérémie’s Christmas Eve proposal. A few months after that, we were able to cover their COVID engagement session when they stayed at our parents’ place during the province’s closures. And this past weekend, Sofia and Jérémie exchanged vows in a small backyard wedding.

As many couples have had to do during this season, Sofia and Jérémie were forced to make a tough decision as their wedding date approached with no news about their venue reopening. They had originally planned for a large wedding in Montréal, but instead, they had to create a much smaller version of their big day. In the end, their day turned out to be a wonderful and sunny reflection of their joy as they started their own family.

Having a small backyard wedding meant that they were able to spend so much of the day together.

Despite the last minute planning, we were able to make decisions that contributed to making a detail-oriented wedding day. Sofia miraculously found her wedding dress online with minimal tailoring needed. The reception centrepieces were borrowed from Naomi and John‘s wedding. We were able to rent chairs instead of using a mix of dining and patio chairs. It also helped that our immediate families include multiple wedding vendors. Jérémie’s dad officiated, John built the arbor, Naomi coordinated, and we were able to cover their photos throughout the day. Not to mention that our mom is an extreme planning master.

Sofia and Jé weren’t discouraged by how their big day was so different from their original plans. They loved how intimate it had become. They loved how they were able to reach even more friends and family by streaming it. And they loved how they didn’t have to stress about driving to various locations. But most of all, they loved how having a small backyard wedding meant that they were able to spend the entire day together.

Sofia and Jé, we’re so happy for you, and we’re grateful that you now have each other unconditionally. Sofia, you were such an incredibly gorgeous bride, and we love that you were able to relax and have your fun moments. We’re so proud of you, and grateful for you. Is it weird that we miss you so much already? Jé, we can’t imagine a better husband for Sofia. We can’t wait to experience more of your goofiness as well and watch how you become an even dearer part of our family. We love you both.
