Weddings

In the small chapel of this Doctor’s House wedding, the vows were said, the rings exchanged. All that was left was the signing of the registry. And then they could be pronounced husband and wife. The officiant turned off his mic and directed the bride and groom to the table. The best man and maid of honour left their lines to join them. Except–wait, the maid of honour didn’t move. Instead, a small lady in the front row stood up. A grandmother. Grandma Dorothy.

The short version of the story is that Shauna and Garrett met at church. The long version is better.

Dorothy, Garrett’s grandmother, is sweet and friendly and loves her grandchildren to bits. After setting up her Facebook profile, she started following all her grandchildren’s friends. Every once in a while, friends would approach Garrett and ask who this Dorothy was who shared his last name. Did he know her? Were they related?

…it was all because of Grandma Dorothy.

Garrett and Shauna volunteered together at church. One day, Shauna received a friend request on Facebook from a woman named Dorothy. Shauna messaged Garrett, and Garrett, having liked Shauna for a while, saw his opportunity. They hit it off pretty quickly and a couple months later, Garrett took Shauna on the most incredible first date, including dinner, dessert, and a paint night.

When Shauna and Garrett got engaged less than a year later, everyone knew it was all because of Grandma Dorothy.

Now, on their wedding day, Shauna and Garrett knew they wanted to involve Grandma Dorothy in a special way. She signed the registry, a witness, not only to the day, but to their entire relationship. From the very beginning.

Shauna and Garrett, we love the way you love your family, and the way you love your friends like family! It was so beautiful to see how you went with the flow (even when the worship music was saved by your friend in the congregation) while enjoying every. single. moment. We hope you love your photos as much as we loved taking them, and that each time you see them they’ll help you relive the magic of your wedding day!
